The Trust Between Bidder And Buyer In An Online Auction
From a wonderful client:
Many thanks for your most reassuring email, and I share your sentiments entirely. As I was raised on a cattle station in Outback Queensland, I tend to retain the beliefs and values of that time and era, which of course the world has largely 'moved on' from - sadly. Since getting enthusiastic on Ebay purchasing to enhance my Pacific War collection, I have 'met' (through correspondence) some absolutely fabulous and truly interesting individuals. Admittedly most have been in the US, to which most Ozzies relate best, but also have several amazing, genuine, friendly, trusting individuals in Japan. Puts a bit of 'quality' back into life to still be able to interact with some of the 'old world values' individuals.
With the Ebay system I have (confidentially) transferred over $200,000 in cash purchases through the mail for 'Japanese collectibles', and never lost one cent, or had a problem with one dealer. Now isn't that a reassuring fact in this day and age? We should never lose all faith with humanity (difficult thought that may be at times) after all, all we really have is each other.
